Installing TROY Secure Print Enterprise

The following instructions will guide you through the TSPE setup process.

  • RUN TSPESETUP as an Administrator by right clicking the installer and selecting “Run as Administrator”.
  • The TSPE Wizard appears. Click Next
  • The Select Installation Folder window appears, choose desired file path. *The default path is recommended*. Click next
  • The End User License Agreement window appears. Accept the agreement. Click next.
  • The Ready to Install window appears. Select Install.
    • Software will install.
  • The finish setup window appears. Click finish.
    • The Software Setup Process is complete

The following instructions will guide you through adding a virtual printer and linking to a TROY SecurePort.

 By default one Troy SecurePort is created during installation. The AddSecurePortUtility can be used to configure additional SecurePorts. 

  • Open the Control Panel. Click view devices and printers.  Click Add a printer.

    • The Add a device window appears, Click "The printer that I want isn't listed".
  • The Find a printer by other options window appears. Check Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings and click Next.
  • The Choose a printer port window appears. Check "Use an existing port" and use the drop down menu to select TROY Secure Port. The default port is named TROYPORT1. If additional ports were created they will also show up in the dropdown. Click Next
  • The Install the printer Driver window appears.

The HP Universal Printing PCL 5 driver is recommended.

    • If the driver is already installed it can be found by selecting HP from the Manufacturer Pane on the left and then choosing HP Universal Printing PCL 5  from the right hand Printers list.
    • If the driver is not installed, Download the driver using link above and unzip to desired location. Once downloaded and unzipped. Click Have Disk. Click Browse Navigate to the location of the downloaded driver. Open the Folder called HP UPD PCL5, find hpzius23 and double click or highlight and press open, Then Click Ok. Highlight HP Universal Printing PCL 5 and press next. 
  • The Type a printer name window appears. Enter the desired name for virtual printer and click Next. The Printer will Install.
  • The printer sharing window appears. Enter sharing options if needed.
  • The Success window appears. Click Finish. The printer us now shown under printers in the Devices and printers window,

The following instructions will guide you through configuring a TROY SecurePort.

  • In the Start menu navigate to the TROY Group folder. Right click SecurePort Monitor Configuration, select More, and then Run As Administrator.
  • The utility will open. Use the dropdown menu next to TROY SecurePort Monitor: to select the desired port.
  • Under the Printing tab use the dropdown next to Default Printer: to choose the hardware printer that will be used to print the document.
  • Under the TROYmark tab. Check the box next to Enable TROYmark™
    • Use the dropdown under TROYmark™ Pattern: to select the darkness of the printed TROYmark™.  
    • The inclusion Region is the area of the page covered by the TROYmark™. The units are 1/600th of an inch. The X-anchor and Y-anchor define the top-left hand corner of the pantograph.
    • The Exclusion region is a rectangular area inside the inclusion area where the  TROYmark™ is not printed.
      • The TROYmark™ Exclusion Region will clear out all Troy security features in that area including the pantograph.
    • The Line Spacing setting defines the space between each diagonal line in the TROYmark™. The units are 1/600th of an in inch. The space is measured from the starting point of a line to the starting point on the next line in the horizontal and vertical directions.
    • The Max Characters per Line setting is used to ensure all the data appears in the
      TROYmark™. This value is the maximum number of characters from the entire TROYmark™ string that will appear in a single line. Remaining characters will appear in subsequent TROYmark™.
    • If the TROYmark™ is to be printed on the back of the page on a duplexing printer, the
      TROYmark™ on Back of Page check box should be checked. TSPE will insert the back page into the print stream.
    • The TROYmark™ can contain static text configured in the ‘Static Text’ text box. The static text can appear by itself or with text captured from the document (dynamic text). Only alphanumeric characters can be used in the static text.
    • Click the Data Capture button and follow the link below for instruction on configuring Data Capture.
  • Under the Pantograph tab, check the boxes for Print Pantograph # 1 and Print Pantograph #2
  • Under the Error Logging tab use the "Enable Error Logging" and "Log Errors to Window" checkboxes to log errors.
    • The "Enable Error logging" checkbox along with the Error log and Save Data File Paths to log errors within the TSPE environment.
      • The Error log path is the location that the TSPE error will be saved use the "..." button to define a custom path or enter "Default" to save the log to (Program Files\TROY Group\Port Monitor\PrintPort#\Error Log). 
      • The Save Data Files Path is the location where the print job files are stored. For a print job, two files are saved. One contains the original print stream coming from the data source application. It is named with a .prn extension. The second file contains the print stream after TSPE has inserted security commands. It is named with a .bak extension. Use the "..." button to define a custom path or enter "Default" to store the data files to (Program Files\TROY Group\Port Monitor\PrintPort#\Backup).

Enabling Save Data files will store a copy of the prescription in the defined location. It is recommended that this feature be turned off by leaving Save Data Files path box left blank unless directed otherwise by Troy Support 

    • The “Log Errors To Windows Event Log” check box should be checked if TSPE errors are to be logged to the Windows Event Log.
