How to Submit Tax Exemption Documentation for Online Orders

TROY is currently upgrading our systems to provide a better online account and checkout experience for tax-exempt customers. During this transition, tax exemption documents must be submitted to our Customer Service Team by email.

To help ensure your online order is processed as tax exempt, please follow the steps below.

Preferred Option: Submit Your Tax Exemption Certificate Before Placing an Order

We recommend submitting your tax exemption documentation before placing your online order. This allows our team to verify your exemption and update your account before checkout.

Step 1: Create an Online Account

Create an account at shop.troygroup.com using the email address you plan to use when placing orders. This allows us to apply tax-exempt status to the correct customer account.

Step 2: Email Your Tax Exemption Certificate

Send an email to customerservice@troygroup.com with your state tax exemption certificate attached.

Please include the email address associated with your online account so our team can locate and update the correct account.

Step 3: Wait for Confirmation

Once our Customer Service Team receives and verifies your documentation, your account will be updated for tax-exempt purchasing. We will send you an email confirmation once your account has been updated.

After confirmation, future eligible orders placed using that account will be processed as tax exempt.

Option B: Submit Your Tax Exemption Certificate After Placing an Order

You may place an online order before submitting your tax exemption certificate. However, please note that your credit card may be authorized for tax at the time of purchase.

To have tax removed or refunded after placing an order, please email customerservice@troygroup.com with your state tax exemption certificate attached. Be sure to include the email address associated with your online account and, if available, your order number.

Once your exemption is verified, our Customer Service Team will update your account and assist with removing or refunding the applicable tax. Future eligible orders placed using that account will also be processed as tax exempt.

Important Notes

Tax exemption documentation must currently be submitted and verified on a per-customer account basis.

For the smoothest ordering experience, we recommend submitting your tax exemption certificate and waiting for confirmation before placing your order on shop.troygroup.com.
