How Do I Install My 3001dw MICR Printer through USB?

If you are having trouble installing your 3001dw MICR LaserJet printer, this setup guide will take you step by step into installing your printer through USB.

Unpack the printer

A.) Select a site to place the printer that meets the following 
specifications:

  • A sturdy work surface in a well-ventilated and dust-free area, 
    and away from direct sunlight
  • Temperature range: 15° - 32.5° C59° to 90.5° 
  • Humidity range: 30% - 70%

B.) Allow sufficient space around the printer to open all doors and trays.


C.) Take the printer out of the box and remove all tape and packing 
material.

Load paper in Tray

A.) Open the input tray.

NOTE: This tray holds up to 250 sheets of 75 grams per square meter 20 lb paper.



B.) Press and hold the button on one of the paper-width guides and slide 
the guides to the edges of the input tray. Do the same for the paper length guide.



C.) Load paper into the tray.
NOTE: To prevent jams, do not overfill the tray. Make sure the top of the 
stack is below the tray-full indicator.


D.) Verify the paper guides lightly touch the stack or paper, but do not 
bend it.


E.) Close the input tray.



F.) Open the output tray extender.

Connect the power cable and turn on the printer

A.) Connect the power cable between the printer and a grounded AC 
outlet.

NOTE: To prevent damage to the printer, use only the power cable provided 
with the printer.



B.) Press the Power button to turn on the printer.

 

Add a USB-connected printer to Windows

A.) Connect the USB cable to the printer and to the computer port.
2. If a Found new hardware message displays, follow any prompts to install 
the printer.

  •  If you can print, the driver installed successfully.
  • If you cannot print, continue with these steps to add the printer in Windows settings. 


B.)  In Windows, search for and open Add a printer or scanner.
C.) Click Add a printer or scanner, and then wait for Windows to locate 
available printers.

  • If your printer is found, click it, and then click Add device to 
    complete the driver installation.
  • If your printer is not found, continue with these steps.


5. Click The printer that I want isn't listed.


D.) In the Find a printer by other options window, select Add a local printer or 
network printer with manual settings, and then click Next.


E.)  In the Choose a printer port window, select Use an existing port, 
select USB001: (Virtual printer port for USB) from the drop-down menu, 
and then click Next.


F.) Follow the instructions to install the driver for your printer model.


G.) Select "Have Disk."

 


H.) Browse to the printer driver files and select HPWinUSBstub.inf and click "Open."

 

I.) Click "Ok"


J.) Select HP LaserJet Pro 3001 – 3008 PCL-6 (v4) and click "Next." 


K.)  Select Use the driver that is currently installed radio button and click "Next."

 


L.)  Enter the custom name you wish to call the print que on your desktop. ) You may leave it the default name as showing below) and click "Next"


M.) Select the do not share radio buIon and click "Next".


N.) Click Print a test page and then click "Finish"
